SNOW PREPARATIONS:
Following last winter's heavy
snow, which saw many parts of the village become a hazard for
pedestrians and cars alike, the Parish Council has taken
delivery of a tonne of salt, 2 salt spreaders and 6 snow
shovels. This equipment is being stored at a central location
and is available for all residents to use, although it should be
noted that use is restricted to the
public highway
only.
Please contact either Julie Redfern
(530308), Joanna Francis (530903), or Howard Rolfe (530742) for
further information.
Ideally we will have a team of
volunteers, ready to help keep Chesterford moving, should heavy
snow arrive.

The Parish Council is pleased to report that 5 new benches have
recently been purchased with the aid of a grant. They have all now
been installed, one in Hall Garden, one along the public footpath
midway between Great and Little Chesterford, and 3 at the Recreation Ground.

Pot Holes and
other Highway Defects
Residents should be aware
that there are a number of ways in which these can be
reported directly to Essex County Council:
With a large
number of potholes in the district, it is important to
continue reporting their location, to help ensure that they
are repaired. |

Sewage Leak at
Recreation Ground
Untreated sewage leaked
onto the centre of the Delles field and onto the surface of
the Recreation Ground, close to the Community Centre, on 1st
Dec 08 and again on the 2nd Dec 08. The cause of the leak
was obstruction of the sewers at the pumping station and a
large amount of waste material had to be removed.
Advice was sought from
Anglia Water and the Customer Response Manager for
Cambridgeshire and Essex visited the village. We have been
asked to draw attention to the steps which we can all take
to prevent these incidents by restricting the items that are
flushed down our toilets.
These blockages have
been recurrent.

advice please follow the
