In 2007 all properties received a copy of the document, produced by Enertrag UK Limited, regarding the proposed wind farm between Linton
and Great Chesterford.
In order to
gain an understanding of the size of the turbines, at 125 metres
high they are more than twice
the height of the electricity pylons nearby, and the blades on each
turbine will sweep out an area the size of
a football pitch in the sky.
Visually the wind farm could have an
impact up to 10km.
As such it will be a significant development in
the area.
It is
important that as many people as possible consider the application
since a number of Great Chesterford residents live close to the
proposed site and many more will look out at the turbines.
In
addition to studying the planning application, and to arrive at a
balanced view of this development, residents may wish to consider
the issues raised with South Cambridgeshire District Council when
they turned down an application for a similar development at Wadlow
Farm.
There are also a number
of research papers available on the internet that consider the
potential harmful effects of wind farms, particularly in relation to
low frequency noise.
A Stop Linton Wind Farm action
group has been formed, their website is to be found at
www.stoplintonwindfarm.org.uk
