THE CHESTERFORDS, ICKLETON AND HINXTON
WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

Since the Women’s Institute was formed in the UK during the First World War to help to revitalise rural communities and to encourage women to become more involved in producing food, its aims have broadened considerably. It is now the largest women’s organisation in the UK – there are currently 205,000 members in 6,500 Women’s Institutes.

There has been a Women’s Institute in Chesterford for almost 50 years.   It is affiliated to the Cambridge Federation of Women’s Institutes which has a wide programme of events that are available to local members throughout the year. 11 years ago the villages of Chesterford, Hinxton and Ickleton combined to form the local WI as it is today.

The Chesterfords, Hinxton and Ickleton WI members may not be Calendar Girls – but we are a group of lively minded ladies of varying ages - and meetings are not all jam and Jerusalem!  We enjoy a varied programme of speakers throughout the year and always finish each meeting with excellent refreshments!  New members and visitors are very welcome.  Make new friends and join us in the involvement of village life!

Meetings are held at the Chapel, Carmel Street, Great Chesterford on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7.45 pm
